Moving to a new city can be exciting—and overwhelming. One of the best ways to feel at home is to join a regular gathering where you can connect, share, and grow alongside others. For many people, church has traditionally filled that role. But what if you crave the community, connection, and meaning—without the dogma?
That’s what this community is all about.
Because the word itself sets an expectation: a weekly rhythm, a sense of showing up (even when you don’t entirely feel like it), and a commitment to building something bigger than yourself. If we do it right, our members will feel as attached as people get to their churches... perhaps even more than a sportverein.

Research shows that people who regularly attend religious services gain real benefits: longer lives, lower rates of depression, healthier habits, and better stress management. We aim to create those benefits for expats in Munich—without requiring adherence to any religion.
Each week begins with a short talk (~45 minutes), weaving together psychology, neuroscience, philosophy (Eastern & Western), and timeless wisdom—whether from the Bible, the Stoics, Buddhism, Taoism, Rumi or Allen Ginsberg.
Afterward, we break into interactive workshops and discussions to:
We close by coming back together as a group, reflecting on key takeaways, and setting intentions for the week ahead.
Maren works in corporate training by trade, but her background is in psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy. She loves good advice—no matter the source—and believes that wisdom, science, and community can help us live more fulfilling lives. She doesn't claim to be a theological expert, but has spent many years exploring the science of mind, body and soul.
Want to get a sense of Maren's style? Here's a video to show you a bit of the types of topics we'll discuss and the kind of angle she takes.
As we build this community together, other speakers may also take the floor to share their perspective and research. Will it be you?
